Today, in a very special episode of life's little ironies
I have about an hour to put a fire /out/ before going to work.  :)   Without water, since that'd make a HORRIBLE mess.

Adding water does make a huge mess. Tried and true. Nearly burned down the building the first day of new apt with fireplace in it (many moons ago). Hope I get to come by during the holidays as I'd like to know what the answer was. We can swap fire stories.

I later heard flour might have worked, still would have been a mess.
